The Amazing Shrinking Free Time.

It is amazing how your free times seems to be used up as soon as you get some free. You quit this thing, stop playing that thing, or whatever then bam the time is used up again.

This has been true for me as I?ve freed time up to work on FGC it gets felled up by more stuff. And here I?am writing you months after my last post. So I?ve decided to venture out and see if any of you would like to help.

Do you like video games? (Duh, or why would you be reading this) Do you enjoy writing about video games, or think you could if you tried? Do you have a strong opinion on video games or the game industry? If you said yes twice to the above questions then I want you to write for me. Send me an e-mail : writer@freegamecam.com.

Are you a programmer? FreeGameCam is becoming dated and I would like some help on updating it (if not a whole new rewrite). Things I would like to have added are:
- Live video and audio to hard drive and to web.
- Offer built in web server in app so people can share directly from their own PC.
- Update the code to a more secure web service.

In other news. I?ve been checking out Second Life lately (just one of the items sucking up my time ). Have you played this game? Graphic are a bit dated and the game is a bit buggy, but WOW are people really creating a second life?s in the game. So much goes on I can?t describe it. You can try a free trial here.

FreeGameCam announces a new contest format

We would like to announce a new type of contest at FreeGameCam. We have changed the old vote system to auto vote for you with each visitor that comes to see your broadcast. The contest will reset at the first of each month. The new contest is for bragging rights only. No prizes being sent out. The last few contests we did where we offered nice prizes turned into us working hard to combat the latest hacking techniques. We are not interested in doing that again. lol

This new contest format is really easy. If you view someone's page they get a vote. The current leader is Cyrix2005 with over 7000 viewers. He has a hell of a lot of viewers compared to everyone else. So we took a look at how he did it. We were amazed to see that over 6000 of the visits came from one post in the World of Warcraft forums comparing EQ2 to WoW and linking to his page for an example of EQ2. That's just an example of what can push you to the top of the list.

We hope you'll enjoy the new monthly competition.

* Call of Duty 2, Single player and Multiplayer
* Counter Strike Source (Two versions. I believe they are Single player and Multiplayer (Steam))
* Unreal Tournament 2004
* Ragdoll Masters


If you have a game you would like to see added. It's real easy to submit the info. We have a tool that you can run to grab the info from the game. You can get it from our downloads page.

Reminder: Change to the FGC voting system this Monday 9/12/05

This is a repost of the announmcement made a few days ago.


We are going to make a simple change to the voting system to make the voting for this contest a bit more fair for the people who are broadcasting. We noticed that some people that have not been broadcasting have been getting votes. We want to reward those of you that are broadcasting by making voting possible only if you are broadcasting.

Sometime Monday we will be making a change to where if you are not broadcasting the vote link will not appear. It will only be there if you are actually broadcasting.

For those of you that have been promoting yourselves with forum posts and such we suggest making your posts and announcements just before you will be broadcasting for a bit to maximize your votes.

We will be adding this item to the rules today but it will not take affect until Monday.

Medal of Honor Allied Assault added to the FGC

Both Medal of Honor Allied Assault and Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Spearhead have been added to the FreeGameCam. The official web site for the game can be found here.

This also would be a good time to mention our new tool for adding games to the FGC. If you have a game that you want to add it's as simple as going to our downloads page. FreeGameCam Contest set to begin September 5th!

www.freegamecam.com is giving away an ATI Radeon X800 XL video card. This is a hot video card that is worth over $300. The contest is a simple one. Broadcast the games you are playing and encourage your friends to vote for you. The contest starts September 5th. so you have some time to try out the FGC and get setup before then. The broadcaster with the most votes will win.

Version 2 of FreeGameCam is in development.

The best thing about version 2 will be the Video feature. Right now the test version that we have in development can do audio and video of all the games. We are working on the details of being able to broadcast the video feeds live. We are also working on the ability to record the videos straight to your hard drive. We also have plans to offer just video for those of you that want to make modified movies. Adding music and such. We don't have a date yet that the new version will be available. But we wanted to ask for some feedback from all of you.

Do you have any requests on something you would like to see added to the FGC? Reply here to this thread if you have any wishes. We are in the stage of development right now where we can add some additional items that are wanted. If you have an idea let us know. We'll see if it's something that can be added.
